Working with a traditional brick built barn in a conservation area, we developed designs to create a large single storey extension visually detached from the original barn structure.

The extension is a contemporary interpretation of the large cow sheds that surrounded the original barn. The large south facing gable lights a new open plan kitchen, dining and living space.

 

Contemporary cedar cladding and zinc profiled roof finishes are split by strong horizontal planes of glass. The extension is linked to the original barn by a simple frameless glass link.
